Emu oil is a time honored skin care product in Australia. It has been used there for many, many years for everything from aches and pains, to burns and wounds, to general skin care. It is simply a fabulous all around treatment for the skin. In fact, it is considered to be a true wonder product.

The emu is a large, flightless bird similar to an ostrich. It is native to Australia. Emu oil comes from the fat of the emu. The tremendous usefulness of emu oil has caused emu ranching to spread worldwide so now emu oil is available all over the world, not just in Australia. Cosmetic and skin care manufacturers benefit greatly from its availability. There are so many wonderful uses for emu oil. If you look at your local cosmetic counter or online, you are sure to find emu oil products that will benefit you.

Why is emu oil different from any other oil? The reason is that, unlike other oils, emu oil actually penetrates the surface of the skin. It doesnt just form a layer on the skin. By truly sinking into the skin, it can truly affect the condition of the skin. It has simply wonderful moisturizing abilities. For this reason, it is very effective for scalp and hair problems like dryness, dandruff, and hair loss.

No matter how many moisturizing products you have tried, you have never used anything as effective as emu oil. You will find that its moisturizing properties are far greater than those of any other oil. With emu oil you will have no worries about fine lines and wrinkles. By soaking in deeply and truly moisturizing the skin, emu oil will do a tremendous job of addressing these concerns.

When your skin is moisturized properly, it will have less of a tendency to wrinkle. When you use emu oil, you will find that it actually soaks into your skin. Because of this, emu oil is far superior to other moisturizing oils that simply sit on the surface of the skin. It actually delivers moisture deeply into the skin.

Products rich in emu oil have been recommended by doctors for the treatment of very dry skin for a number of years. Emu oil can have tremendous effects on stubborn skin conditions like eczema and some skin rashes. Look online for emu oil products. Comparison shop a number of sites to get the best prices. Once you have settled on a site, look carefully at the products to be sure they contain enough emu oil to be effective.

Once you have settled on a product, you will want to use a small, trial amount of the product on your skin to see how it will affect your skin. If you have very dry skin, you are sure to be happy with the results. If you arent convinced so far, just look up all the research that has been done on emu oil. You are sure to find that the tremendous praise it is given is well deserved.

Here’s 7 Dry Skin Causes (And Treatments).

Thursday, March 12th, 2009
by Peter Albertonach

Dry skin can be extremely annoying. What causes dry skin and what can you do about it? Here’s 8 dry skin causes and suggested dry skin treatments.

There’s many factors that can cause dry skin, and some are much more common than others.

You’d be surprised at how common dry skin conditions are, and how many people are searching for dry skin treatments. Some conditions are easy to treat, some not so easy.

And dry skin can be so annoying. Your skin can be flaky and red, painful, swollen full and in many cases extremely itchy.

Normal skin has an outer layer of oils that are naturally produced by the skin, and help protect our skin. But for various reasons these outer oils can be removed resulting in what is known as dry skin.

So lets have a look at dry skin causes and treatments. Some are easier to treat than others.

1. Long hot baths. Now I know you love that bath as hot as you can get it and love to soak for hours if you can. But that takes away those natural skin oils and dries your skin. A shower is better than a bath, shorter and not as hot.

2. Skin care products and cosmetics. Is this a surprise to you? Is this the first time you’ve heard that many big brand name skin care products and cosmetics actually have ingredients in them that are dangerous to your skin?

Many ingredients actually dry our skin. An example is mineral oil. Mineral oil is a petrochemical product (ie derived from crude oil) and damages your skin, but is used because it is cheap.

Much better is to use high quality natural skin care products that won’t damage your skin and will help you overcome your dry skin problems very successfully.

3. Exposure to the sun. Sunburn can easily strip your skin of natural oils. It also damages your skin in other ways, and you should avoid sunburn at all costs. Anywhere, anytime.43. Central heating/air conditioning.

4. Weather. You can get dry skin in places with cold dry winters. But if it is more humid in summer it may go away. What should you do? Use a high quality natural skin care product formulated to retain skin moisture and renew skin moisture.

5. Soaps and detergents. These can dry your skin, particularly modern big name soaps and shampoos. These also contain ingredients that can be damaging to your skin. Avoid soaps that lather a lot and leave your skin feeling squeaky clean. Avoid deodorizing soaps and soaps with anti bacterial ingredients. Use natural soaps with no fragrances or deodorizing and keep changing them till you find the right one for you.

6. Psoriasis, medical conditions, and drugs. Many medical conditions, like psoriasis and eczema, can cause dry skin, and some drugs can too. For specific medical conditions consult your doctor.

7. Avoid itchy clothes, they too can cause skin dryness.

So, those are 7 dry skin causes, what dry skin treatments are there? Well of course it goes without saying that for medical conditions you ought to see a doctor. But in many cases this isn’t necessary.

I have already suggested some dry skin natural remedies like cooler showers and changing to more natural soaps and shampoos and you may well find that this solved the problem. Natural remedies are often cheaper and easier to achieve, and have no risk to other areas of health.

And consider using a range of natural skin care products. The best natural skin care products contain natural oils like avocado oil and Babassu oil from the nut of the Babassu tree, both excellent and perfectly safe natural moisturizers. These will do wonders for any dry skin conditions.

Surprising though it sounds, the very best natural skin care products, as well as working better and being safer than the big brand skin care products, and very cost competitive. That’s because the company that makes them doesn’t spend big on TV advertising then factor that into the price of the product.

There’s 7 dry skin causes for you to consider. Combine some or all of the treatments I’ve mentioned here and you should be well on your way to relieving that dry skin that is so bedevilling you.

Top Reviewed Ingredients In Eye Wrinkle Creams

Sunday, March 8th, 2009
by Mandy Urban

If you’ve been searching for eye wrinkle creams at the grocery store or drugstore, you’ve most likely seen some similarities among ingredients. This should be no surprise. The top reviewed products by specialists in this market often contain common ingredients with varying amounts because…well, they work.

In my search for the best products, I’ve come across three ingredients most commonly found in eye wrinkle creams and other anti aging treatments. Cucumber extract, arnica oil and shea butter are all effective ingredients, but serve different purposes in eye wrinkle creams.

Recognizing the value of each ingredient is especially important. The majority of us aren’t rich so we can’t afford to spend large amounts of money on eye wrinkle creams. In addition, it’s important to know how each ingredient works so we can choose which product will work best for us. Lastly, many of us have comparable types of skin, which means we experience common needs with respect to anti aging treatments. Knowing the products that have worked best for others with similar issues to ours can be beneficial when we’re deciding which products to buy.

Cucumber extract is one of the more common ingredients in eye wrinkle creams for several reasons. It’s an effective antioxidant, moisturizer and rids the skin of free radicals. It also yields a cooling, soothing feeling and helps to soften dry or irritated skin. Cucumber extract is especially successful at treating wrinkles and puffy eyes.

An ingredient gaining in popularity as of recently is arnica oil. As a topical treatment, arnica oil promotes white blood cell development, which helps relieve pressure from fluids built up within blood vessels. For this reason, it’s especially beneficial for puffy eyes.

Shea butter has long been included in skin care treatments around the world. It’s extracted from a tree in Africa and is rich in beta-carotene and Vitamin E. As an ingredient in eye wrinkle creams, it’s used to elevate capillary circulation and penetrates deep into skin to moisturize dried-out skin cells. As a bonus, it also contains sunscreen properties (SPF 6) and helps heal and soften age spots.

The best way to treat wrinkled skin is to know the best products and ingredients to use. The next time you look for products, either online or in the store, briefly look at the label. If you find one of these ingredients in there, you can be sure it’s gonna help you.

The Best Help Against Wrinkles And Signs Of Aging

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009
by Jen Hopkins

It has been said that nothing can stop the natural process of aging. Some of the customers who reviews the markets top wrinkle and aging solutions agree; others don’t. This article will show you the best anti aging and anti wrinkle creams out there and the worst so you know what to buy and what not to.

There are two that consistently fit into the latter category. These products consistently failed to impress their users. Fusion Beauty Lift/Fusion Eye Lift consistently received ratings of two stars or less from several sources. Its main fault is that it does nothing. According to three-fourths of those customers who reviewed the product, it does nothing to reduce wrinkles or other signs of aging. The second that should be avoided is Dermitage. According to their product description, this cream reduces visible wrinkles in as little as one hour. In real life, however, it is a product that receives one star and does nothing.

On the flipside are two products that we deemed the best of the best. Fake Bake Self-Tanning Lotion provides a natural looking tan and reduces toxins in the skin. A youthful glow always makes one look (and feel) younger. Another winner is Juliet’s Anti-Aging Cream. Give it 24 hours and soon you’ll feel how soft and luxurious your skin can feel.

While there are several options available commercially, there are also things you can make at home that are just as effective. Here are a few of the best. Egg whites applied to the skin under your eyes will help reduce wrinkles there, and odor-free castor oil can be applied there, too, as well as the throat. Combining the contents of three vitamin E capsules, two teaspoons of plain yogurt, a half teaspoon of honey and a half teaspoon of lemon juice also works quite well when applied to the face using a cotton ball. All you have to do is leave it on for ten minutes and rinse it off.

These are the worst of home remedies. A mixture of 1/4 cup comfrey infusion, 1/4 cup witch hazel and 10 drops of patchouli essential oil is effective in treating wrinkles. This can be stored in a clean bottle and applied on affected areas with a cotton ball, this remedy didn’t work at all, just made peoples faces wet.

So, we have learned that a few products on the market, as well as a few home remedies, are effective. The Fake Bake Self-Tanning Lotion and Juliet’s Anti-Aging Cream are commercially available. Egg whites, odor-free castor oil and the mixture containing vitamin E, yogurt, honey and lemon juice are treatments you can make at home, and they also work.

You should avoid the witch hazel solution at all costs. This was by far the worst of all products or home remedies tried. It did cost less, however, than its commercial counterparts, the Fusion Beauty Lift/Fusion Eye Lift and Dermitage.

This article has shown you the best anti aging and anti wrinkle creams out there and the worst so now you know what to buy and what not to. So when you go out to get something just remember the golden rule of consumer education: if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

Beauty Anti Aging Treatments

by Marianna Pells

You have many choices if you are looking for beauty anti aging treatments. Beauty anti aging treatments include surgical and natural treatments. Surgical treatment may involve resurfacing peels, while natural treatments can now be done with microdermabrasion and herbal cures for the skin.

Laser Peel Procedure:

Laser peels involve applying a carbon dioxide laser on the skin. What the laser does is remove fine lines, wrinkles and other types of damage. It removes damaged skin layer by layer. The effects of the treatment are less visible wrinkles, scars and dull patches. Although the procedure aims at removing wrinkles on the sides of the mouth and eyelids, it’s also effective on other parts of the face and body.

Although known to be a very precise procedure, the laser peel treatment is not ideal for everyone. Individuals with brown, black or olive skin are usually at risk for alterations in skin color. Other risks involved in this cosmetic anti aging treatment are bleeding and bruising.

Chemical Peel Procedure:

Chemical peel treatments are often used to eliminate wrinkles, skin discoloration and blemishes. The procedure works by chemically stripping the outer layers of the skin to give skin a nice glossy finish.

Alphahydroxy acid and the chemical Phenol are used in chemical peel treatments. Alphahydroxy acid is a fruit acid that is considered the gentlest in skin peel treatments. Phenol is a less gentle ingredient that targets wrinkles and sun-damaged skin that are more prominent. In some cases, scarring on the neck and body may occur after treatment.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is another peeling procedure but is less harsh than chemical ones and can be performed at a clinic, spa or even at home. There are now microdermabrasion kits sold over the counter. During the procedure, the outer layer of the skin is peeled by exfoliation. The method clears pores and improves skin cell turnover. This method is therefore good for those who have acne problems and scars caused by acne.

One may apply crystals or crystal-free treatment on the skin. A microdermabrasion procedure can be rather abrasive, depending on the hardness, abrasiveness and type of crystals used. For example, sensitive skin can react negatively towards aluminum-oxide crystals. Thus, there is always some risk, as with most kinds of treatments. An individual undergoing microdermabrasion treatment may need to be treated every other week or every 6 weeks if he/she would like to maintain youthful skin.

Organic Skin Care

A cheaper substitute for surgical procedures is the organic skin care formula. Ingredients found in nature can take care of both sun damage and wrinkles. Essential oils, body butter and carrier oils are nature’s very own cures for skin. Essential oils consist of tea tree, lemongrass, peppermint, jojoba and lavender derivatives.

There are two well-known anti aging treatments and they are honey and shea butter. Honey contains antioxidants that are good for sealing in much needed moisture in the skin. Shea butter has the ability to cure dermatitis, stretch marks and eczema and is clinically proven as a safe ingredient.

If an organic skin care treatment has more than 50% organic components it is one of the best choices you have in the market.

Using Witch Hazel As An Anti Aging Cream

Thursday, February 12th, 2009
by Julie Samtsonn

In years gone, Indian tribes used Witch Hazel for medicinal purposes. These days, it is one of a handful of medicinal treatments that are allowed to be used by the Federal Drug Administration. Of course, there are other herbal extracts permitted as dietary supplements, but witch hazel is one of just a select few that are still allowed as topical treatments. It was widely used for ailments such as hemorrhoids, insect bites and stings, skin ulcers, tumors, boils and other rashes like chiggers or poison ivy.

Witch Hazel, a native shrub in America and Europe has had medicinal qualities that have made it valued over the years in varying forms. In early days, it’s branches and flowers were steamed and the results mixed with a percent of alcohol and used for astringents and topical medication. Nowadays, it is found in many different things from mouthwashes, as the distilled witch hazel to anti aging creams and anti wrinkle creams, in the form of witch hazel oil. It has been found as an ingredient in hemorrhoid treatment medicines, even still today. Some of those have been used by home remedy skin care experimentalists and claim that those medicines also work in the anti aging of skin.

In those anti aging treatments, it is particularly useful because it has been found to have capillary constricting effects that reduce inflammation. It also has topical antioxidant properties and is considered a safe, affordable home remedy. Witch Hazel Oil is cheap and can be purchased for under a couple dollars in the pharmacy section of most retail stores. It is a very useful ingredient in skin care lines, specifically anti aging creams and anti wrinkle creams, where it may be found in a more concentrated level and promotes cell turnover as well as cell moisturizing by using the oil concentrates to moisterize the skin cells, keeping them plump and hydrated.

It was in the 1840′s that Theron Pond learned from the Oneida Indians, the medicinal benifits of Witch Hazel. The shrubs are common in the New York and Connecticut areas and these regions still supply much of the witch hazel on the market today. After years of learning from the Oneida Indians, Theron Pond brought the healing powers to mass market, selling it commercially under the name of Golden Treasure. After the death of Theron Pond, the name of the product was changed to “Pond’s extract”.

Witch Hazel production is still alive around Connecticut and the region is one of the leading manufacturers of witch hazel extract. The bulk of harvesting is done in Northwestern Connecticut. Here, property owners harvest from the shrubs every few years, they re-branch and sell directly to distributors. From here, it is then sold for pharmaceutical uses.

Witch Hazel is an antioxidant, radiation protective and anti-inflammatory. It is also an approved astringent and external analgesic. It has internal medicinal benefits also. It’s benefits speaks for themselves, so it is natural that it is an ingredient in anti-aging creams and anti wrinkle creams.

Experiment On Your Skin To Find The Best Wrinkle Cream

Thursday, February 5th, 2009
by Jen Hopkins

The US population is getting older, but we Americans remain obsessed with beauty and youth. While many other cultures honor the aged by celebrating their wisdom and endurance, we in the US devalue our elders and continue to, as one country singer so aptly put it, athrow pennies into the fountain of youth.a

Women are particularly susceptible to worries about again. While signs of aging such as crow’s feet or grey hair may sometimes make a man look mature, American society views women’s signs of aging as a handicap. As a result, women live dreading old age, and do everything they can to stop aging from progressing.

There are a multitude of options available to those who wish to go to extremes to maintain their appearance. Seekers of the fountain of youth try many things ranging from meditation to injections, and from acupuncture to cosmetic surgery. There are even new treatments that allow patients to visit a doctoras office for minor surgery and get out of the hospital all in one day; sometimes they even perform the procedure on your lunch break. However, there are many drawbacks to doing this, including the cost, pain and inconvenience during healing. Wrinkle cream is still a very effective way to fight aging without all the drawbacks.

The nightly ritual of applying wrinkle cream has comforted many women for decades. The wrinkle cream feels good against your skin, and after it soaks in, you can feel it working. When you get up in the morning, your face is softer, more supple and with fewer wrinkles than the night before, giving it a more youthful appearance.

However, it is still a struggle for many women to find the best wrinkle cream for them. Many factors determine which cream works best for each woman, and no two women are the same. It is best to experiment and even take careful notes, to determine which cream is best.

The most essential factor to consider when examining different wrinkle creams is your personal skin type. Dry skin tends to drink in moisture, but oily skin can become irritated if you use heavier lotions or creams on your skin. If your skin is oily, you may need to try a lighter facial moisturizer.

If your skin is sensitive, check your ingredients carefully. Sensitive skin will sometimes react badly to fragrance, color or irritants that commonly appear cosmetics. Be careful, because products can say they are non-irritating, possibly non-comedogenic or even hypo-allergenic and they may still irritate and break out your skin. Every woman is different, and it takes a little bit of trial and error to find the cream that is just right for you.

Price will not tell you anything about whether a product will work for you or not. There are many drugstore generic products that work just as well or better than brand-name creams at the cosmetic counter. Likewise, you need to be just as vigilant with trial-and-error with expensive brands as you do with drugstore products. After all is said and done, what gives a product value is that it works, not the claims it makes.

Wrinkle Creams: The Next Botox

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009
by Jen Hopkins

Ever since the introduction of cosmetics to the marketplace, men and women have been looking for ways to stave off aging. The harsh reality that one-day we would look like our parents began closing in quick on the baby boomers and Gen X’ers. It was a threat that needed to be confronted with our best scientific minds. The plethora of miracle creams and makeup that was invented over the course of the past 40 years has been amazing. From proper mascara to eye shadow to concealer, all of these have been amassed to produce anti aging miracles. A new weapon on the war against aging has been anti wrinkle creams. These WMDs (Weapons of Makeup De-Agers) have been placed before us with the promise that they will make us look 5 to 20 years younger.

But how good are these new makeups? The cosmetic industry is a business, and business has always looked to the dollar. It seems they will try anything new, exciting, or that just plain sounds possible, if improbable, to try to get us to buy a product.

The cosmetic industry is a huge business, and these companies want to see a return on their investment. They invest millions of dollars into these anti wrinkle creams trying to get one that is better than their competitors. Over the course of the past two decades, the creams have become sounder scientifically as they discover the exact process for aging.

Originally, anti wrinkle creams were just fillers. They would help to smooth out the skin by filling in the wrinkles. This was good in that it worked fast, but over the course of the day the makeup would move on a persons face and by the end the wrinkles would be visible. Today’s treatments use a combination of fillers, plumpers and freezers.

Through science, today’s “spackle” works a lot better. They combine a filling mixture for the wrinkles with a plumping agent that moisturizes within the pores to add water under the wrinkle and push upwards making a smaller wrinkle to be filled. These can be combined with freezers as well.

The freezers hope to actually freeze the muscles underneath your face. By doing this they lessen the progression of wrinkles, making it much easier to conceal them. This is done in the most problematic of wrinkle areas, from the forehead to the crows feet around the eyes and the wrinkles around the mouth. By producing creams that help to stave off aging, it makes it possible for make ups to be more effective in their task of reducing wrinkles.

The combinations of plumpers, freezers, and fillers can be utilized differently to have different results. These help make traditional makeup much more effective in the war on age. As the science increases we find it possible to use creams and makeups as opposed to plastic surgery- a much better alternative.

In the end the wrinkle creams work. As each person’s body is different, various combinations of makeup can be used for different results. Look at what is available and what special needs your own face has and get out there to find a cream that is just right for you
