Easy Steps to Stress Relief

Monday, December 22nd, 2008
by Sara Mendez

Now is the only time that is important. Many people get caught up in their day to day lives and focus on the future which can bring about anxiety or stress. Stress can cause many problems such as concentration issues, lack of good judgment, negativity and lack of productivity. The best way to combat these feelings of stress is through relaxation. Relaxation plays in a key roll in leading a healthy happy life. Relaxation takes as little as ten minutes a day and can be as simple as breathing exercises, or as challenging as a kick boxing class, the choice is yours.

Work, marriage and money are just a few things which can cause stress in peoples day to day lives. Often people get so busy and think they have no time to relax. They can also be fooled into thinking that they need to do something extreme or go someplace such as going on vacation to relax. These people are mistaken, relaxation can happen at home, in the office or while driving. The key is to train the mind to relax.

Finding the best method can be the hardest challenge on your road to relaxation. First you need to decide what sorts of things you enjoy. It could be a range of things such as surfing the web, reading, meditating or walking.

Watching TV, listening to music, surfing the web and reading all offer a break from regular day to day situations. They each create an alternative world that is entirely your own. Your mind visually escapes into a place that is different and exciting instead of dull, boring and always the same as so many of us think our lives are.

Meditation can help you learn to reflect on situations and to control your breathing to calm your mind. These techniques need to be learned and practiced in order to achieve the maximum result. Once mastered, you can relax at the drop of a hat and find inner control in as little as ten minutes.

The gym, fitness classes and general exercise appeal to many as a form of relaxation. You have a choice between running, walking or lifting weights. Others might prefer group fitness in the form of a cycling, kick boxing or tai chi class. Running and walking burn off built up energy and are a great stress reliever, however not everyone wants to run a marathon. For them there are other classes and their purpose is relaxation, such as yoga which focuses on relaxing the mind and body at once. Many people choose to skip the classes and gym all together and simply walk their dogs in the park which offers equally as much stress relief.

The most important thing to remember when it comes to relaxation is practice. It is important to have patience! Listen to your mind and body, learn what is working for you and make note of what is not. Keep yourself motivated by remembering you are on your way to a happier and healthier lifestyle, also remember how good it feels to be doing something enjoyable.

Make sure you try different techniques, sometimes one might work better than another and it is best to have a variety. Learning something new is always a challenge however once you get the hang of it, it is like riding a bike, your body won’t forget how. You must make a conscious effort to remind and train your body to relax while performing this task. It may take time, but in the end the rewards will be worth it.

Girls With Abs Have Them For A Reason

A shredded mid section always looks great on a person. The only thing sexier than a guy strolling on the shore with a ripped abdomen is a bikini-clad girl with six pack abs.

Tastes and standards have changed with the times. The image of the voluptuous, busty bombshell with the pouting scarlet lips has been replaced by the toned and tanned surfer chick with cut abs.

The image of the Monroe-esque figure painted on the fuselages of WWII warplanes has been replaced by the internet-savvy, corporate chick who rushes-off to the gym after work to work on her figure.

Girls with washboard abs weren’t born with them of course- it’s not inherited through the genes like a sexy butt or an ample bosom. Women with six pack abs get them through a combination of healthy eating habits and workouts that are optimized for burning body fat.

Cardio and muscle-building exercises designed to burn belly fat in women is generally the same as that of men- there’s basically no difference (except for the weight lifted of course, as men are generally larger than their counterparts).

There’s actually little difference in the skeletal muscle of men and women. Consequently, exercises and food intake for effective muscle-building and fat-loss for both sexes are the same. It’s common-sense, really- burn belly fat, reveal the abs.

Experts have discovered that the surefire way to getting ripped abs entails exercises designed to burn body fat and build muscle. The secret to exposing the lines and striations of abdominal muscles (as with any other muscle) lies in eliminating the layer of sub-cutaneous fat covering it. The shredded look would be impossible without burning-off excess body fat and keeping it off.

Lifting weights builds muscle and since muscle tissue burns calories (even while immobile), the more of it we have, the easier it would be for our bodies to avoid storing fat from excess calories. Our metabolism goes up, the more calories we burn and this inadvertently means the less effort we have to exert in our workouts. Weight lifting and exercises that burn belly-fat effectively are universal- it’s the same for both guys and girls.
