Body Detox: Reason For Great Health?

Monday, May 25th, 2009
by Isabelle S. Mihajlov

The new buzz around the health world in getting a body detox. Years of poor eating habits, low-fiber diets, environmental pollution, and stress cause the toxins to build up and eventually get absorbed back into the body. A toxic build up in our bodies may increase the risk of sickness and disease, so it is essential that our bodies properly eliminate the toxic build up in our colon and other organs.

These toxins affect adversely the functioning of our body organs, especially the functioning of vital organs such as the liver, the kidneys, and the colon. A toxic colon eventually leads to a toxic liver, which pollutes the tissues and the bloodstream, resulting in poor health. Our body organs and tissues must be free of toxins for the immune system to function optimally.

How Do I Know I Need A Body Detox?

If you experience one or more of the following symptoms, it is time to take action: Constipation, diarrhea, fatigue and low energy, hemorrhoids, gas and bloating, excess weight, food allergies, impaired digestion, recurring headaches, protruding belly, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Candida infections, bad breath and foul smelling stools, and metallic taste in mouth are only some of the symptoms.

Just like you car needs the oil changed regularly or your outside of your body regularly needs a washing, so does your internal body. Waiting too long or til you start experiencing some symptoms listed above, is not a wise idea. You will increase your risk of developing much more serious problems like cancer the longer you procrastinate your body cleansing.

Research clearly proves that our bodies are not capable of elimination all the different toxins and chemicals we inhale and ingest every day. They simply accumulate in our cells (especially fat cells), tissues, blood, organs (such as the colon, liver and brain) and remain stored for an indefinite length of time causing all kinds of health problems. Cleansing your body of toxins will improve your health and boost immune system function.

The Best Approaches for Male Weight Loss

Saturday, May 9th, 2009
by Dustin Fennell

Losing weight is only half the battle. The trick is to find a weight loss plan that will not only get the weight off, but will help you keep it off. For every person the things that trigger poor eating habits are what must be eliminated or made inconsequential.

Do not consider any weight loss plan that is divergent from your food likes and dislikes. This will create added stress for you during your dieting. If you detest eating leafy green vegetables, a dietary plan that consists mainly of various salads is probably not a great choice.

Also, considering dietary strategies that do not include foods you crave on a regular basis can cause binge eating. Steer clear of weight loss plans that prohibit the foods you love. If you?re a meat and potatoes type of guy, then a plan that prohibits starches will probably not be suffered for long.

Almost every professional in the nutritional industry will advise a balanced diet with items from all of the food groups and plenty of exercise as the optimum, long term answer for weight loss. This will enable the person losing weight to maintain their goal, once attained. This methodology will almost always result in a healthier, long-term lifestyle.

Use precaution if you are considering supplements to help with your weight loss. Although adding some natural metabolic stimulators such as green teas and acai extracts may help, there are many products sold at high prices that are nothing more than placebos. Again, verify accuracy of claims made and ensure that any supplement taken does not interfere with any prescribed medication or medical condition prior to purchase.

Your physician may prescribe a course of weight loss treatment that includes surgery. When dealing with an obese patient who has had minimal dietary success, this may be a warranted alternative. Be aware that if you don?t change bad eating habits, the successful surgical result will be short lived.

Other surgical procedures available to remedy obesity are gastric bypass, stomach stapling and banding. Banding can be done via laparoscopic techniques, however gastric bypass and stapling are usually performed using traditional surgical methods. These weight loss surgical procedures require physician recommendation.

The permanency of your weight loss will depend on your ability to maintain your new, healthier lifestyle. Once you have gotten the weight off, focusing on keeping it at bay will keep the physique you have worked hard to attain.

5 Interesting Height Statistics

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009
by Rodney Williams

Statistics help bring to light things we would not even have considered, while confirming or denying other things we may have thought we knew. Height has many unique and interesting statistics of its own, which may surprise and enlighten you. Let’s take a look shall we?

1) Height by Region - This has been one of the most looked at areas concerning height. With entire regions of the world having significant height advantages over other areas, it seemed like the most obvious way to find the link between height and the factors which affect it. So what is causing this fluctuation in height between different regions?

Nutrition and genetics often plays a key role in height, and it’s an established fact that wealthier people, especially those from a long line of wealthy family members, are traditionally taller than poorer people, though this gap is closing. This doesn’t explain though why the Japanese, one of the most civilized and wealthiest nations in the world for the past millennium, and also the longest living people in the world, are still so short (though they are slowly making up ground).

2) Growth Spurts - Growth spurts are often quite dramatic, and quite a shock to the people on the outside observing the growth spurt first hand, namely parents. Girls, who hit puberty slightly before boys, can grow as much as 3.5 inches per year, while boys can do them one better by growing as much as 4.5 inches per year during their growth spurt.

3) Family Ties - It’s long been known, or at least suspected, that genes play a deciding factor in height, which is largely true. There have now been enough studies conducted to come up with a formula for determining likely natural height based on the height of one’s parents and grandparents.

The formula works like this. Take the height of your 6 immediate ancestors, two parents and four grandparents, and add them together in inches, then divide that number by 6. From that number, males should multiple by 1.08 and add 3.5 inches, while females should multiple by 0.92 and add 2.5 inches.

4) Height in the Workplace - Taller men have a 75% better chance of being selected for promotion or an executive position than shorter people with the same credentials. Proof that height is often associated with power and successful individuals.

5) Height in Love - When it comes down to romance, height of course also plays an important role. For many their own height plays a deciding factor in the desired height of their partner. Taller women in particular want taller men, more so than tall men do of women. Women who were considered to have more options, such as those who described themselves as slim or athletic, also seemed to narrow in on taller men.

Broken down by region, Asian women were much more willing to overlook height, probably based on their own shorter statures, while black women wanted taller men at the highest clip.

These are just some of the many fascinating statistics that surround height, in our culture, our workplace, and even our bedrooms.

3 Ways To Look or Appear Taller

Sunday, March 15th, 2009
by Rodney Williams

Not all of us have been blessed with long legs, and soaring statures, and for the most part this has been out of our control. While height gain can possibly be achieved through other methods later in life, it could be that doing so is simply not possible for you, or that the gains simply weren’t enough. Maybe you’d rather not gain any actual height, but would like to give off the illusion of being taller on certain occasions.

Whatever the case may be, we’ll detail three proven and easily utilized methods for making yourself look taller, without actually gaining a single inch.

1) The first, and probably most obvious way to look taller is through the use of footwear, be it insoles inside your currently existing footwear, or a new set of footwear designed to leave you higher off the ground.

Many shoes on the market today are designed with height gain in mind, raising you one or more inches higher than a normal shoe, while still looking like a regular old shoe. Insoles can also achieve this same effect, those these are limited somewhat by what footwear is being used.

2) Next is clothes, and not only can clothes make the man or woman, they can also make the man or woman appear taller. Unlike footwear, which will actually make you taller while wearing them, proper attire will not make you physically taller in any way, but can give off the appearance that you are.

Wearing tighter fitter clothing should be your first priority, as loose or baggy clothes give you a more squat appearance. Vertical lines on shirts are another great way to give off the illusion of being taller. Women should wear compact dresses or skirts, and no-waste pants. Men should also stick to wearing their pants as low as possible (within reason), and wearing cuff-less pants is also advised.

3) Lastly is your hair, which of course is somewhat up to the whim of the Gods, at least as far as whether or not you have any. This shouldn’t of course be an issue for women, but balding men may want to consider getting a hair piece, or trying out hair renewal products.

We’re not talking about going out and getting a Mohawk or anything, but tricks that can be used include spiking your hair at the front for men, and women wearing their hair up.

Adding a few of these tricks into your arsenal should help you become, look, and feel taller, and without any exercise or hard work of any kind necessary.

3 Well Known Myths On Growing Taller

Friday, March 13th, 2009
by Rodney Williams

Over time, just about any subject has stories surround it that can be considered myths or legends. Something gets said once, gets picked up by someone else and expanded upon, and down the line it goes until you have a full blown myth. The subject of growing taller has also developed its own myths over the years, and we’ll debunk three of them here in this article.

Myth #1 – Diet and height are in no way related - While we naturally associate diet with weight gain, very few people believe diet has any affect on height. This is not true, as one’s diet can and will affect their height.

Sure enough diet does play a role, and a very important one. Fuelling our bodies with the ingredients necessary for it to grow and function properly is important in any context. Vitamins, protein, minerals and more all promote growth, even after our growth spurt has ended, and without enough of these elements in our diet, any hope of gaining additional height is lost.

Myth #2 – Smoking - Here’s where things get really murky on the myth/fact scale. This one’s split fairly evenly, with many people swearing that smoking will make you shorter, with just as many saying that’s nothing but an old wives’ tale. So which is it, fact or fancy?

Wellthis one’s still debatable, hence why the two sides are still so evenly split. Tests have been numerous, and have shown no conclusive evidence that smoking stunts growth. Whether this is due to test subjects being beyond their growth spurts already is undetermined. The fact is that smoking releases harmful and invasive toxins into your body, which have a negative effect on most every bodily function they come into contact with. Maybe it won’t directly inhibit growth, especially if the smoking is begun past the growth spurt as mentioned, but it certainly can’t help.

Myth #3 – Exercise won’t increase height - Here’s another one that is quite commonly entrenched. In fact many people wouldn’t even consider it a debatable question. Are they correct?

Not so. It has been proven through many studies than regular and targeted stretching of the legs and spine can result in height gain of two or more inches, even in adults who would be unlikely to grow any taller of their own accord.

Many other myths exist besides these ones. Never believe something the first time you hear, or even the one hundredth time. Only after carefully examining both sides of every story should you come up with your own conclusion, one way or the other.

Finding The Best Free Weight Loss Program

Thursday, January 29th, 2009
by Cathy M

People live at a slower pace in the modern world, at least when it comes to physical activity. Modern American life is very comfortable, and requires a lot less effort than life required in the past. Between driving, white collar work, and modern appliances to replace physical work, people have a lot less opportunity for getting physical.

Combine that with processed food, and the result is a slam dunk. Fat is part of American life the way wet is part of water. Obesity is more than just a matter of looks. Being overweight can lead to a number of health issues such as heart disease, hypertension, and stroke. In other words, too much unwanted weight can not only cost you a date, it could end up costing you your life. That’s why many people should consider losing some weight. As with other things in life, free diet programs can be the best.

Free diet programs are all around us. Some work, many do not, but all the good ones are best implemented as part of an overall healthy lifestyle. The best way to lose weight is natural, healthy, simple, and best of all it’s free. Lower your caloric intake while at the same time raise the number of calories you burn through working out.

It’s going to be nearly impossible to lose weight with only exercise, although you will end up stronger and healthier. By the same token eating would likely have to be cut to a dangerously low level if physical activity isn’t increased. Combine the two as part of a normal, sustainable regimen to take off the weight and keep off the weight.

You want to reduce calories without spending a mint on meal plans? Cut down the portions. You heard it. Keep eating exactly what you now eat, but reduce the portions. Look up the nutrition values of the foods you tend to eat and cut down the amounts by enough to lower intake beneath burn. Drop 90,000 calories a year, for the average person, simply by replacing soda and juice with water. Or, if you like tea or coffee drink those. The caffeine in regular coffee and tea helps speed the metabolism and that means burning calories.

What about exercise? Forget working out only five days a week. Vigorous aerobic exercise, meaning you work up a sweat, is best as an every day activity at least 30 minutes each day. Kick that up a step with extra physical movement such as parking further from the office or stores for a short walk, taking stairs instead of elevators, and using hand tools for daily or weekly chores.

Free diet programs plus exercise equal bang zoom weight loss to the moon.

What Are Diabetes Nutrition?

by Zul Rahman

What are the common causes of diabetes?

Many studies pointed that diabetes is caused by extra fat in the diet as well as the body. Contrary to the popular believe, sugar is not the only culprit that contribute to the disease.

A leading medical school in the United States made a study on a group of healthy young men. They were fed with a 65% fat rich diet. In less than 2 weeks they developed mild diabetes.

Another group similar to that was given a 10% fat diet and one pound of sugar daily. None of the young men were diabetic after 11 weeks of study.

By no means this is the only study conducted. Many studies have been conducted before and the result were always the same.

What is the best way to treat diabetes?

The straight answer is this disease can be treated by following a very simple diet, very low in fat and high in fiber. Don’t forget diet alone is insufficient, daily exercises should be in your schedule too.

It is very crucial to lower the amount of fat, oil and grease in the diet. A person with type II diabetic who decrease fat to about 10% of total calories in daily meal could reduce blood sugar to a normal level within 8 weeks. Many of them eventually could get off diabetic medication totally.

The right food that you take is the natural cure for diabetes. This shows that diabetes could be treated with proper diet of nutritious meals.

How to maintain a steady blood sugar level naturally?

Natural food and food that are rich in fiber could help to reduce the fluctuations of blood sugar level. When foods without fiber components are eaten, blood sugar level quickly shoot up and that’s why insulin is used to counteract the reaction.

Processed foods, soft drinks and junk snacks are high in calories but low in fiber, could also lead to high blood sugar level. On the other hand high fiber foods smooth out blood sugar fluctuations and stabilize energy levels.

Active lifestyles and exercises acting as an insulin like reaction. It burns up excess blood sugar and fatty acids more rapidly.

The most recommended lifestyles changes for diabetic is of course losing excess body weight. Obesity is the most common non genetic factor that lead to diabetes.

Of course low fat diet, high fiber foods and exercises are great components of natural cure for diabetes.

Fast weight loss

by Cath Night

There’s no doubt that many people need to lose a few pounds. Walk around where people gather, you’ll notice the fat. Don’t laugh. Unfortunately you’re likely to see it in the mirror too. If you’ve made fast weight loss your goal, keep a few simple things in mind to take off the pounds quickly and safely.

When people want to lose weight one of the most common things they do is to skip meals. Hey, if eating fewer calories is the goal then why not skip breakfast or lunch. Doesn’t weight loss come with eating less calories? That’s right but skipping meals isn’t the right way to reduce calories. Your body thinks it’s being starved when you skip meals. It goes into “starvation” mode. It starts to retain fat to counteract what it perceives as a food shortage. Another problem with skipping meals is that when you finally eat you’ll be a lot more hungry. This could lead to binge eating. Skipping a meal plus binge eating, then, will likely result in eating more calories and the body gaining even more weight from those calories than normally. It’s the worst of both worlds. Don’t skip meals.

Know how much to eat. Portion control is just as important as eating the right food. Too much of even a healthy food will still result in weight gain. Portion control isn’t easy when large portions are so common. Restaurants serve over large portions, as do most people at home.

The FDA and other sources list recommended daily allowances. If you must eat out, keep portion size in mind. Don’t eat the full portion served at the restaurant, or order less than a full meal, such as soup and a salad.

Replace white foods such as white bread, white rice and sugar with whole grain foods. Whole grains are lower in fat and higher in nutrients. The fiber in whole grains will make you feel fuller faster and longer. Also whole grains contain many nutrients that are often lacking in people’s diets.

Consume more water. Drink it instead of juices and sodas which add about 90,000 calories to the average person’s diet each year. Drink water between meals too. In fact, the goal is 8 glasses of water each day. It’s easily possible. Drinking water will also promote health in general by keeping you well hydrated and helping to avoid overheating.

Eat healthy snacks between meals. The body needs food every three to four hours to maintain proper blood sugar. Eating healthy snacks, such as fruits, helps control eating at meal times.

Fast weight loss is realistic with some knowledge and planning. Keep these things in mind and pretty soon you’ll see a slimmer you when you look into a mirror.

Male Pattern Baldness Requires Careful Research

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008
by Marlene Baliss

Millions of men around the world suffer from thinning hair, and worry that they will soon become completely bald. There are a variety of reasons for hair loss, but male pattern baldness is the most common, and one of the most frustrating.

Learning about male pattern baldness and its implications will help you to get a handle on your own situation. Finding possible remedies that can help stem the loss of hair, or renew hair follicles will depend on you doing some research. Most men find that their hair thins with age, and depending on several factors, this process could lead to baldness in the center or the entire scalp. It is not a pleasant problem to have, but it is not something you face alone, either.

If you are in the initial stages of male pattern baldness, you can relate it to a combination of things. Looking at the causes may help you begin to find a solution, though not every case will have a corresponding solution.

Family genes are the most common culprit of male pattern baldness. Blame your ancestors once again! As we age, dihyrdo-testosterone can impact our hormone balance. Increased hair thinning can be a result of these complex interactions of chemicals in our bodies.

Testosterone changes as we age, and although scientists have not completely sorted out all of the specific cause and effect relationships between hormones and baldness, they continue to work on the problem. Our bodies normally produce enzymes that help hair grow. However, as we age, and as testosterone changes in composition, it can interact with these enzymes, leading to negative effect on hair growth.

Some men find that their hair is falling out in chunks, or that thinning is taking place more rapidly than expected. Please consult a doctor if this is happening to you, as these things are not normal for male pattern baldness, but rather indicate a more serious health problem. There are many diseases or disorders that can be the source of this, so the only way to determine the problem is to talk to a health professional as soon as possible.

However, if your situation is more indicative of normal male pattern baldness, then there are fewer potential causes — and solutions. Do some research into potential products and other solutions that are available. Some of them do slow thinning of hair, or encourage hair growth. But others have little effect. Digging around a little will help you to determine whether an effective treatment might fit your situation. Millions of men are in your same position, so there are plenty of companies that make claims about solutions for male pattern baldness.

Finally, be careful out there! The hair loss industry has a long history of being inundated with false claims and unscrupulous characters selling snake oil cures. They prey on the desperation that some men have when faced with this problem, and thus they are more vulnerable to falling for the lies that some people perpetrate. Not all of the products or organizations are cheaters, so ask friends or family members who also experienced male pattern baldness about what they have heard or tried. Take your time to research any products or organizations that you intend to use. Good luck.
