The Benefits of Professional Salon Hair Care Products…

Monday, December 29th, 2008
by Jennifer Summers

If you pride yourself on having clean and healthy looking hair, looking after your locks is a top priority. So using good shampoos, conditioners and hair care products on your hair is important. But when it comes to price and the quality of hair care products, how do you know which hair products to use?

High street products seem much more affordable and therefore giving you better value for money because of the low cost of high street hair products. Branded premium salon products can appear pricey with the average 300ml shampoo bottle priced at 5 times the cost ($20/GBP10) of a regular high street shampoo ($4/GBP2).

On just this kind of price comparison alone, it appears that the cheap high street hair products are the winners as you are getting 5 times as much product for the same cost, or the same amount of product for 1/5 the price of the salon professional hair care products.

However… when you carry out a closer inspection of the differences between cheap hair products and professional salon hair products, does cheap hair care products really provide the better value for money, or is buying cheap hair products a false economy? Let’s take a closer look…

To find out whether the premium brand salon hair products provide better value for money in both the short and long term when compared to cheap high street hair care products, we decided to test them to find out the real truth about hair products, and whether the high street products are as good a deal as they initially appear.

For our test we compared a 300ml bottle of professional salon shampoo and compared that with a 300ml bottle of your average cheap high street shampoo. To achieve the our required standard of cleaning, the professional salon shampoo needed just 10ml per application to achieve this standard, whereas the cheap high street shampoo needed 50ml per application to achieve the same standard of cleaning.

Using 50ml per application, the average high street hair shampoo provides approximately 6 applications per 300ml bottle. With just 10ml used per application, the professional salon hair shampoo gives you around 30 applications per 300ml bottle. Doing a little math, the cost per applications are $0.64c/GBP0.32p for the cheap high street shampoo, and $0.66c/GBP0.33p for the salon professional shampoo.

Conclusion: although cheap hair care products initially seem a better deal and provide more value, in reality there is virtually no difference in price when it comes to the economics of professional salon hair care products. And? when you include the much higher quality, the greater effectiveness and visual results, and the deeper and more thorough cleansing and conditioning of salon hair care products, buying cheaper high street hair products in favour of salon hair products is a complete false economy.

The Best Way to Wash Your Hair for Really Clean Hair

Not many are aware of this but there is a right and a wrong to wash your hair. When you do wash your hair properly, you will notice a much better difference in the health and shine of your hair. It is very likely that you have washing your hair incorrectly and as a result you’re not getting the really clean and healthy looking hair that we are all capable of having.

Step 1. - Start. Begin by brushing your hair well before you climb into the shower, this will help to loosen dirt, reduce hair breakage and reduce the amount of hair being caught in your plug hole. When you have finished giving your hair a good brush it’s time to give your hair a good soaking using warm (not hot) water. For washing your hair properly, it is important that you get all of your hair completely wet, as washing dry hair is difficult.

Step 2. - Applying shampoo. A common mistake that many people make when washing their hair is the amount of shampoo they use. Often people will just add a big dollop to the palm of their hand and then start rubbing it in. This is not the way to do it. If you are using the very highest quality hair care products (which is always recommended) you only need use a small amount as professional hair products are usually more concentrated.

Step 3. - The proper way to wash your hair. There two biggest errors people usually make in washing their hair are: 1). Scrubbing/massaging too hard 2). Rinsing off shampoo too quickly. After adding the shampoo, the best way to wash your hair is too rub or massage your scalp and hair gently. Vigorous scrubbing can be bad for you scalp and does clean hair any better. When you have finished lightly massaging your hair for a short period, the shampoo can be left in for up to 5 minutes for a thorough clean.

Step 4. - Rinse and Repeat. Now that your hair has had a good shampooing, it’s time to get all of that dirt, grime and shampoo lather out of your hair. When you come to rinse your hair, it’s important to give your hair a really good rinsing. While it may look like all of the shampoo has been rinsed out, there can still be plenty of product left in your hair. Once you have rinsed, there is absolutely no harm in washing your hair a second time. When your hair squeaks, you know it’s clean.

Properly washing your hair will make a difference to how your hair looks, and regular proper washing will transform the look and feel of your hair after a period of time. Following the simple steps given above will guarantee great looking clean hair. An extra tip for even better looking hair is to consider using professional salon products on your hair. They usually contain the best ingredients for cleansing hair and are concentrated so you use less and save money.

Salon Hair Care Products vs. Cheap High Street Hair Products

Looking after your hair is a top priority if you pride yourself on having clean and healthy looking hair, and using quality hair care products (i.e. shampoo and conditioner) is a must. However, when it comes to getting the best value for money should you buy professional salon hair care products, or would cheap high street hair care products be just as good?

Cheap hair products available from the average high street store might appear to be better value for money because of their lower cost, while professional salon hair care products often appear to be pricier, with the average salon hair products priced at $20/GBP10, and a similar size cheap hair care product costing $4/GBP2.

On just this kind of price comparison alone, it appears that the cheap high street hair products are the winners as you are getting 5 times as much product for the same cost, or the same amount of product for 1/5 the price of the salon professional hair care products.

When you look more closely at the comparison between the effectiveness and the quality of high street hair products and salon hair products, does the comparison end up in the favour of cheap hair care products, or do the cheaper high street products turn out to be a false economy?

To discover which in the long term out of cheap hair care products from the high street and professional salon hair care products proved the best value for money, we decided to test the products to find out how the high street hair products compare with the salon professional hair products.

Needing 50ml per application, a 300ml bottle of cheap high street shampoo would give you about 6 applications. But using only 10ml per application, the professional hair care shampoo gives you approximately 30 applications in a 300ml bottle. Comparing the prices, the price per application of the professional salon shampoo is $0.66c/GBP0.33p per application, and the cheap average high street shampoo worked out at $0.64c/GBP0.32p per application.

Result: although the high street shampoo appears to be better value, in truth there is very little difference in cost compared to the professional hair shampoo. The professional shampoo is of much higher quality and more effective in cleaning your hair. Buying cheap high street hair shampoo is a false economy. Q? Why would you want to use an inferior product on your hair?

The Basics of How Argireline Works in Anti Aging Creams

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008
by Julie Samtsonn

Wrinkles in the skin have many causes. They are part of the aging process, skin cells loose fat content (elastin and collagen) because of several causes. Over exposure to the sun, natural aging even repetitive facial gestures like squinting or pursing the lips. As well as this, the skin cells loose their capacity to seal in moisture, as the fat content slowly deplete the cells that were once plump. This is why the smile lines, frown lines, eyebrow and forehead lines as well as crow’s feet lines start to appear.

The objective of anti aging creams is to keep the lines and wrinkles from appearing in the first place. In the case of anti-wrinkle creams, the aim is to try to retain the skin cells. To keep their moisture and skin muscles to relax the positions they have formed that eventually cause certain skin wrinkles. Like smile lines and crow’s feet lines. There are ways of ‘rebuilding the skin structure’ or ‘remodeling skin cells’, that you may have heard about. It usually involves the use of peptides, a wound healing process like that used on burn victims, where the skin is remodeled to restart new skin growth.

Peptides is often used with facial and skin muscle regrowth or retraining a sort of muscle relaxer. Peptides work on a deeper level than topical cream solutions. Argireline is the trade name for Acetyl Hexapeptide-3, which is a peptide. It is also a synthetic anti-aging chemical created from natural proteins, that can be used to stimulate muscle relaxation as well as reflex reactions. It’s a way to treat the underlying cause of a wrinkles that show up in a certain position over time.

Argireline has been found successful to reduce the muscle reactions over a period of time, with slight improvement over a 4 week period, and twice the results in a 27 week usage. As with any anti aging cream or anti wrinkle cream treatment, once it is stopped, it is usual that the wrinkles will reappear to an extent and the natural muscle reactions will cause the newer skin cells to become retrained to appear to wrinkle with the fold of the underlying skin muscles.

Argireline, by the nature of it’s treatment of the underlying muscles versus treatment of the surface skin cells, make it much like a topical form of what Botox, by injection to the muscles does. The relaxation of the facial muscle contractions is a temporary solution, even with Botox. Manufacturers of Argireline use less than a 10% ingredient composure, as a higher concentration could have adverse effects, by relaxing the facial muscles too much and resulting in sagging. While Argireline has not been on the market long enough to measure long-term effects, it appears safe and effective as an ingredient in topical anti aging creams and anti wrinkle creams, and is available in many formulations on the market.

Complete Your Look With The Right Designer Clutch Handbag

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008
by Grace Jennings

As every woman knows, a good handbag is a must. Not only that, but most of us use a different handbag for everything we do. There are summer bags, winter bags, professional bags, casual bags, evening bags and more. Every one of them has a certain look and certain accessories that go along with them. The handbag you carry says a lot about you.

Designer clutch handbags are especially unique and expressive. Such handbags are usually marked with the designer’s name or logo. Since they are made by well-known designers and out of high-quality materials, they are often fairly expensive. You might find the expense well worth it, though.

Of course, you could choose to carry any sort of designer handbag. There’s something to be said for all of them. But designer clutch handbags are especially stylish.

Another great thing is that designer clutch handbags have a convenient kiss lock, which prevents your items from falling out. They are also usually rectangular, tiny and convenient. Sometimes they are lined with expensive fabrics, too.

Many clutch handbags also feature a small, handy chain. After all, many people like to wear a handbag over their shoulder. If you don’t want to, the chain can be tucked inside the handbag. It’s always nice to be able to convert it to a shoulder bag, if you want to, though.

Designer clutch handbags are really convenient too. You can use them with the strap. You can tuck them under your arm. You can even just hold them in your hand. In fact, this type of handbag is so small and convenient you can take it anywhere.

Of course, designer clutch handbags do have one small negative point. They are made to be tiny, so they can only fit so many items inside at a time. They are great for an evening out, since they can hold your makeup and other essential items. They aren’t meant for full-time use, though.

There are many things that designer clutch handbags can say about you. Since they are so small, one statement they make is that you aren’t afraid to keep life simple and only use what you need to. You can also use them to express your feminine charm, though. Their small design and feminine beauty, after all, are their strong points. They also make the statement that you aren’t afraid to buy quality items, even if there is some expense involved. So, is a designer clutch handbag right for you? That all depends on what you’re looking for.
